About

Our Story

I founded Data Insight Partners after spending a decade straddling two worlds: crunching numbers for corporate clients by day and volunteering for community organisations by night. The contrast was stark—while businesses leveraged sophisticated data tools to optimise profitability, the organisations doing vital community work were often struggling with basic Excel formulas.

When a small environmental nonprofit I volunteered with secured a major grant based on a simple data visualisation I created over a weekend, I realised the enormous untapped potential. That Monday, I gave notice at my corporate job, and Data Insight Partners was born.

Meet Dr. Alex Able

After earning my PhD in Computational Statistics from the University of Sydney, I turned down lucrative offers from tech giants to focus on applying data science where it’s needed most—in organisations working for social good.

When I’m not wrangling data, you’ll find me hiking with my rescue dog Binary (yes, she’s a 0 or 100 kind of dog—no middle ground), attempting to grow vegetables despite my data-proven black thumb, or volunteering as a maths tutor for community education programmes.

“The most meaningful insights often come from the messiest datasets. Just like life.”

Philosophy

I believe that:

  • Data should illuminate, not intimidate
  • Ethical considerations trump technical possibilities
  • A well-formulated question is worth a thousand algorithms
  • Community expertise is as valuable as technical knowledge
  • Sometimes, the best solution is the simplest one
